I work in the field of synthetic biology which aims at engineering new biological systems and functions. My group’s work includes the programming of cellular behavior through the engineering of genetically encoded logic gates, the design of programmable receptors enabling cells to respond to ligands of interest such as pathological biomarkers, as well as the design of cell-free systems performing sensing and computation. These tools are then applied to engineer next-generation biosensors for diagnostics as well as designing bacteria for therapeutic purposes.
